It has been awhile, but I had to learn a couple of new devices. A studio is a living and breathing thing, it never stops evolving. I’ve just bought the Korg WaveState and soon hope to make some new presets for it.
This track has a bit of live performance with some help from the #Akai​ MPC Live II.
After an update to the #Roland​ MC-101 the randomization of sound inspired me to grab a lot of sounds from it and chop them up in the Akai. The guitar-like sounds you hear in the beginning of the track are made this way.
The iPad Air 4 is such a great music tool to have with my other gear, so there are some sounds, sequencing, reverberation and delays from it.
The first thing I played via the #Nord​ Wave 2 was a preset from Synthmaster One, then faded another Synthmaster one preset in which was triggered by the Fugue Machine app. AUM gets its clock from Audiobus which gets it from the Akai.
Sliding the faders up to let the great drum sounds in from the Nord Drum 3P. While the second sequence is starting, I’m turning the filter from the versatile and weird Arturia Micro Freak to play with his arps. Joining the chopped up samples and triggering sounds from MC101 together with sounds from the iPad. Volume up for the hi hats from Elktron’s Model Cycles
The weird arp sounds that I played from the keyboard are from the Wave 2 itself. Making presets on this keyboard is such a joy to do and it sounds great!
The spooky bit is made out of a granular sample from the app Tardigrain, homemade preset on the Wave 2 is playing the pad and percussion fx is from the Cycles.
Building up to the end more arps from the Wave and Freak. I really like my arps hahaha.

Living on one of the five islands of The Netherlands is amazing and inspired me to search strange and beautiful sounds. The Art of Noise, JMJ, Vangelis and Yello made me think about the many ways you can use weird sounds to make music. My goal was to find wondrous sounds with electronic synthesis. It doesn't matter if it is analog, digital or virtual; if it sounds great, who cares.
